In this article I am going to share a couple of the traits shared by really successful entrepreneurs. A study was done where highly successful business owners across a range of business niches were asked to list what traits they considered had been most influential in their business success. So if you want to know if you have what it takes then read on and discover if the following 2 traits are already in your arsenal: independence and self-reliance and risk-inclined.
Independence and Self-Reliance
As a successful business owner you will need to be able to set goals for the growth of your business and you will have to take responsibility for ensuring that the necessary tasks and activities are done and done right whether you intend to do them yourself or to delegate or outsource them to others. The buck really will stop with you.
When you truly understand the importance of taking responsibility and being accountable for both the success and failures in your business, you will come to see this not as something to be feared but as a great opportunity. When you understand that the results you get are dependent on the actions you take then you will see that to get better results you need to change what you do and that is within your control.
Also it is very likely that in the early days of starting up your business you will be largely working alone and so you will need to be self-reliant in the sense of being able to trust your own judgement and make decisions.
Risk-Inclined
Starting up your own business will involve some element of risk i.e. you will have to take action without having the certainly of what the results will be. So even if you won't need to risk money to start up your business you will still need to be able to take calculated risks in terms of the use of your time, etc. Notice that being risk-inclined doesn't mean being reckless in any way but rather being willing to make decisions and take opportunities that arise without knowing for certain if they will work.
Basically you need to be willing to fail because the reality is that you will fail in some way. It is impossible to achieve long-term success without risking failure and generally success is not instant but comes from trying various options some of which will not succeed. You need to see that failures are a necessary step to go through to find success and true failure is giving up.
By the way do you want more information about the other 4 traits of successful entrepreneurs and help with deciding if running your own business is right for you?
